April Premiere for Upcoming Anime 'Touken Ranbu Kai -Kyoden Moyuru Honnouji-', Unveils Teaser PV and Visual
"Touken Ranbu ONLINE" is a simulation game where players assume the role of a priest leading "Touken Danshi," renowned swords transformed into warriors, into battle. Since its debut in January 2015, the game has successfully spawned various media adaptations, including anime, musicals, consumer games, stage plays, movies, and even kabuki.
The stage play series "Touken Ranbu," introduced in 2016, has become a fan favorite with 15 productions to date. The inaugural work, titled "Stage 'Touken Ranbu' Fiction Story: Burning Honnoji," revolves around Fudou Yukimitsu, worn by Oda Nobunaga and given to Ranmaru Mori. Kenichi Suemitsu, the director and scriptwriter for the stage play, has been announced as the series composer and scriptwriter for the anime adaptation.
The recently unveiled teaser PV begins with Honnoji Temple engulfed in flames, featuring numerous swordsmen, particularly those linked to Nobunaga Oda. Their dramatic expressions convey inner thoughts and conflicts concerning Nobunaga. Additionally, the teaser visual portrays the determined and brave figures of the swordsmen against the backdrop of Honnoji Temple.
Domerica is responsible for the animation production, with Ryoya Ichikawa as the director, Mari Takada as the character designer, and Ryunosuke Kasai handling the music. The cast includes familiar names from the "Touken Ranbu ONLINE" game, such as Kosuke Toriumi as Munechika Mikazuki, Tomoaki Maeno as Kunihiro Yamabagiri, Yuki Yasushi as Samonji Sozo, Daisuke Sakaguchi as Yukimitsu Fudo, and Aragaki as Hasebe Heshikiri. The lineup also features Tarusuke and Seiichiro Yamashita, reprising their roles as Toshiro Yagen. Comments from Suemitsu and the six cast members have also been shared.
